QMx Teams Up With Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

LOS ANGELES – November 21, 2009 – Quantum Mechanix Inc. (QMx) announced that it has signed an agreement with Time Science Blood Club and Joss Whedon for the very first license to develop a full line of collectibles based on the hit web series, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

Created by genre auteur Joss Whedon, Dr. Horrible combines show tunes and superhero melodrama in a truly unique and entertaining way. Originally only available via a dedicated website, and later through iTunes and on DVD, Dr. Horrible became an overnight sensation when it drew record downloads and purchases, all but single-handedly legitimizing the internet as an entertainment medium.

Today's announcement marks the first time an official Dr. Horrible license has been awarded. "Dr. Horrible will be remembered decades from now for returning creativity to the business of genre entertainment," said QMx CEO Andy Gore. "It proved that low or no budget productions can be a worldwide hit. And with licensed collectibles in the mix, it's very possible that the next Dr. Horrible will be financed – at least in part – by fans purchases. Imagine what that could mean for original and independent productions."

QMx's Dr. Horrible license includes prop replicas, T-shirt designs, posters and art prints, animated maquettes and novelties. While no specific product plans have been announced, the company is already hard at work on a number of Dr. Horrible-inspired collectibles.
