QMx to Create Maquettes for The Guild

LOS ANGELES – July 20, 2011 – Quantum Mechanix Inc. (QMx) announced today that it is creating a line of animated maquettes based on characters from The Guild. This American comedy web series created and written by Felicia Day (who portrays Cyd Sherman and her alter ego, Codex) is available on a number of platforms, including iTunes and Netflix.

“We love characters,” said QMx CEO Andy Gore. “So we go where the great characters are, whether that’s the big screen, small screen or the web.”

Part of QMx’s Maquette line, The Guild maquettes will be cast in professional-grade resin and painted by hand.  As with all QMx animated maquettes, The Guild maquettes will come with many screen-accurate details, including special attention to costumes. They will be approximately six inches tall, excluding props.

The Guild is the biggest hit you never heard of,” said Beth Nelson, QMx product manager. “It’s clever, it’s fun, it appeals to the outcast in all of us. Guildies – fans of The Guild – are everywhere. You just don’t know it.”

The Guild maquettes will each be released as part of a limited edition. To be the first to find out when these unique maquettes are available for purchase, and to keep an eye out for web specials and other exclusives, sign up for:

Fans who want to see Quantum Mechanix’s work up close should stop by the QMx booth (#2944) this week at San Diego Comic-Con. Among the products that will be on display will be the recently released Penny maquette from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Felicia Day portrayed Penny in that web show.

The Guild is an independent sitcom web series about a group of online gamers. The show started in the late summer of 2007 and for the first season was financed solely with PayPal donations from loyal fans. Since season 2, The Guild has been distributed by Xbox Live and Microsoft, and sponsored by Sprint.

The Guild has won numerous awards, including the SXSW, YouTube and Yahoo Web Series Awards in 2008, and 3 Streamy Awards in 2009: Best Comedy Web Series, Best Ensemble, and Best Actress for Felicia Day.

The Guild is produced by The Knights of Good Productions, Inc.
