Sneak Peek: U.S.S. Kelvin Prototype
LOS ANGELES – April 17, 2013 – The U.S.S. Kelvin has the distinction of being perhaps the most popular Federation vessel per minute of screen time.
At once both worn and beautiful, the single-nacelled Kelvin was a working-class starship that may have been outgunned, but would never be outclassed when it made the ultimate sacrifice against the Narada in Star Trek (2009).
The QMx FX Cinema Arts division has been hard at work mastering a collector's scale (12 inches x 7 inches) replica of the Kelvin that we expect will offer fans an unprecedented level of detail for its size and price.
Grown from the original movie digital-effects files, the Kelvin prototype features a highly detailed Aztec paint pattern and meticulous weathering, painstakingly crafted to match the on-screen ship.
No pricing or ship date is available at this time. The final design is pending studio approval.
We just thought you might like a little sneak peek at our progress on this scrappy little ship!
